The Onion, possibly the funniest website in the world, has signed a first-look deal with Miramax for future feature film ideas. The satirical site has already had one of its stories - 'Tenth Circle Added To Rapidly Growing Hell' - optioned as the basis for a film by Dreamworks. The new arrangement with Miramax means The Onion's writers can pitch ideas to the company, and that screenwriters can trawl The Onion's archives for stories that they might want to adapt. Miramax sees the deal as a great way to establish a strong comedic brand. And with headlines such as 'Area Man Hasn't Told Co-Workers About His Billy Joel Fanpage', 'Doctors Find New Way To Prolong Meaningless Existence', and 'Aging Gen-Xer Doesn't Find Bad Movies Funny Anymore', they've certainly got a good place to start. Visit The Onion. Because it's very, very funny.
