The money men at Disney and Pixar were wandering around Hollywood this weekend with big smiles on their faces, following the huge opening success of Monsters, Inc. The animated movie stormed to the top of the charts in America, taking in $63.5 million at the US box office - making it the biggest opening animation film of all time. It did pretty well against a wider field as well, becoming the sixth biggest weekend opening ever. These enormous figures will be doubly welcome at Disney who will be happy to reclaim the animated movie box office crown from Dreamworks who previously held it with Shrek's opening of $42.1 million.
