Because the NASCAR racing of Talladega Nights clearly isn’t fast enough for high-falutin’ film types, production company Mandalay Integrated Media Entertainment has snapped up a pitch set in the world of drag racing.
Christopher Titus has written and will star in Five Seconds, a family drama based around the sport. "Drag racing is the most exciting five seconds in sports and entertainment," Titus told Variety. "It's a great setting for family drama."
Worried that rival companies will strike quickly to develop their own dramas focused on drag racing (or possibly the even faster sport of how long it takes someone to honk their car horn when the lights change in London), Mandalay is keeping the rest of the plot details under their giant metal hat. And there’s no director attached yet.
