Dress up for a LOTR discount

Here at Empire Online we applaud any attempt to get people to dress up and make idiots of themselves. So we're very glad to hear today of an initiative by the Science Museum in London to persuade fans of The Lord of the Rings to dress up as characters from the movie and be seen in a public place. By way of celebrating the UK premiere of The Return of the King on Thursday 11 December, the museum will be offering half price entry to its Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy exhibition on that day to anyone who dresses up as a character from one of the movies. In the press release issued today the museum explains that 'visitors must convince staff that they resemble a character from the famous films', so wearing a dressing gown and putting a traffic cone on your head and claiming to be Gandalf probably won't cut the mustard. But if you do make the effort, staff will also reward you by taking a free picture of your good self in costume, shrunk to the size of a hobbit on Gandalf's cart.
