Madonna may be the latest in a line of big Hollywood names to make an appearance on the London stage, with a debut next summer in a production of Tennessee Williams' play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The play's producer, Bill Kenwright, has said that he hopes Madonna will agree to a 20-week run once she finishes shooting the film version of Chicago. If she signs, she'll play the Southern temptress, Maggie the Cat, in the play. It would be Madonna's first stage appearance since her Broadway debut in David Mamet's Speed the Plow, ten years ago. Peter Hall, who directed the play on its West End debut in 1958, is also lined up to direct the new production.
