Much of the coverage of Amazon's planned Lord Of The Rings TV adaptation has been about its huge price tag. But we're well into the casting stage for the show, with the likes of Will Poulter and Markella Kavenagh already aboard. The latest addition, according to Deadline, is Game Of Thrones veteran Joseph Mawle.

He has fantasy experience thanks to his time playing Benjen Stark in Thrones. For the Rings series, set many years before the Fellowship set out. Deadline has heard he'll play a villain named Oren, who will cause problems for Poulter's heroic Beldor and Kavenagh's Tyra.

JD Payne and Patrick McKay are spearheading the series alongside producer/director JA Bayona and former Thrones writer Bryan Cogman. As for Mawle, he's been at work on Terrence Malick's new film, The Last Planet.
