Thanks to the Disney Plus/MCU ad that aired during the Super Bowl earlier this month, we've already had our first – if awfully brief – look at Tom Hiddleston's return as Loki in the show named for his character. But we also now know that Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be part of the cast.

Loki, of course, picks up the version of the character we met in Avengers: Endgame, who uses the tesseract to escape capture and venture off through time, showing none of the more heroic growth we've come to know from him. He'll pop up during key moments in history, but faces his own challenges.

How Mbatha-Raw factors into that remains to be seen; her character is, in true Marvel fashion, a mystery for now. Sophia Di Martino is also part of the cast, and Owen Wilson was more recently added in a major role.

Writer Michael Waldron (who was also just hired to work on the script for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness) is overseeing the series, with Kate Herron directing. It's busy filming now, and should be on our screens next year. As for Mbatha-Raw, she has films including Come Away, Misbehavior and Summerland on the way.
