And we thought that Tim Burton's musical Batman was the strangest thing to be aimed at a theatre - well, okay it probably is but an attempt to have a 70 foot gorilla tread London's boards comes pretty damn close. That's right, an adaptation of the iconic monkey movie is currently being planned and, frankly, they're gonna need a bigger stage. Debbie Isitt, who wrote West End hit, The Woman Who Cooked Her Husband, is currently working on the adaptation. Apparently inspired by the stage version of 101 Dalmations that cropped up in Coventry, Isitt has put pen to paper and is determined to bring Kong to life. According to theatre trade publication, The Stage, Kong himself will be an entirely animatronic creation, towering above the audience though hopefully not plucking damsels from among them.
