Shifting casts is a big part of The Crown, as the series moves through the decades and different people portray the members of the Royal Family. With the fifth and final season builds its ensemble, Lesley Manville has been added to take over playing Princess Margaret.

She inherits the role from Helena Bonham Carter, who played the hard-living princess in Season 3 and will be back for Season 4. Manville joins her pal Imelda Staunton, who is taking on playing Queen Elizabeth from current incumbent Olivia Colman in Season 5.

Season 4 finished shooting as the Coronavirus crisis filming shutdown began to bite, and will be on screens later this year after completing post-production in lockdown. Peter Morgan and the production team want to get back to work, though producer Andy Harries has cast doubt on whether the series can shoot under social distancing conditions.
