We3 looks to be the coolest and most controversial comic-book conversion coming up - following a crack team of talking lab animals as they make a break from captivity. Scripted by its Glaswegian creator Grant Morrison, it is set to be directed by Kung Fu Panda co-helmer John Stevenson.

Also on board for the project is Transformers producer Don Murphy, who unveiled plans to make the film in live action, rather than straight animation: "It's not going to be cutesy. There's killer rabbits and stuff. We're in the process right now of trying to figure out where we're going to make it."

Based on the 2004 Vertigo comics, We3 tells the story of a dog named Bandit, Tinker the cat and a rabbit called Pirate. They make up a prototype squad of combat-suit-wearing, weapon-wielding animal fighters, who must make their way home in a violent and action filled journey. It's like a RoboCop/ Cats And Dogs/ Watership Down hybrid, only much more awesome.
