Kristen Bell Joins Some Girls

Now that she’s finished helping to save whales in Big Miracle, noted sloth aficionado Kristen Bell is looking to settle an old romantic score and get animated again, as she’s signed on to both the adaptation of Neil LaBute’s Some Girls and Disney’s ‘toon Frozen.

Let’s tackle the live-action gig first, shall we? Some Girls finds Adam Brody as a bloke on the verge of getting married. Feeling the need to make amends with some of the women he’s wronged over the years, he visits several ex-girlfriends on a sort of heartbreak reunion tour.

Bell will co-star as Bobbi, a woman who Brody left years previously without a word. We predict there could be fireworks when they meet again. Jennifer Getzinger is on board to direct the adaptation, which LaBute has handled himself.

Also on Bell’s agenda is a role in Disney’s take on the Snow Queen story. Surf’s Up director (and Disney veteran) Chris Buck is now in charge of the long-gestating project, which adapts Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale about Kay, whose mind is warped when his heart and eyes are pierced by shards of a troll mirror. He becomes enamoured of the frosty Snow Queen, but his childhood friend, neighbour and sweetheart Gerda still believes he can be saved and sets out on a quest to find him.

The Hollywood Reporter’s story has Bell as the lead voice, but doesn’t specify whether she’ll be acting (and singing) as the Queen or Gerda. And given how Tangled shifted things around with the Rapunzel story, there’s no word yet on whether the story will even feature everyone from the original tale. It's currently aiming at a late 2013 release date.

Along with her upcoming film work, which includes Movie 43 and Outrun, Bell has been spending her time as one of the leads on Showtime comedy drama House Of Lies.
