Once mired in development as one of the cinematic Stephen King adaptations Josh Boone was attached to, Lisey's Story has now emerged as a TV project for Apple, with King himself and JJ Abrams on board as producers. And Julianne Moore has made a deal to star.
Adapting his own 2006 blend of horror and romance, King has written all eight episodes ordered by the tech company in its latest stab at high-profile work for its Apple TV+ streaming service. The story is a deeply personal thriller that follows Lisey (Moore) two years following the death of her husband. It'll explore a series of events that causes her to begin facing amazing realities about her husband that she had repressed and forgotten.
Abrams will produce via his Bad Robot company and Warner Bros. television, where he has a deal (though it's set to expire soon and he's on the hunt for a new home, with Apple amongst those in contention).
It's a rare small screen role for Moore, who once had a starring role on soap opera As The World Turns but has largely limited her more recent TV work to the likes of HBO TV movie Game Change. On the big screen, she'll be seen in Gloria Bell (due here on 7 June) and The Woman In The Window, out on 27 September.
