Despite already having a hefty ensemble for his next film, Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan is adding another name. Josh Hartnett is the latest recruit for the drama.

Oppenheimer, which Nolan wrote and will direct for Universal, is drawn from the book American Prometheus: The Triumph And Tragedy Of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. It'll chart how Oppenheimer played a key role in the creation of atomic weapons, yet later came to have complicated feelings about their deadly power. He lobbied for international control of nuclear power and opposed the creation of the even more destructive hydrogen bomb.

Cillian Murphy is playing Oppenheimer, while Emily Blunt will be his wife, Katherine. The cast also includes Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Rami Malek and Benny Safdie, with Oppenheimer targeting a July 21 release in 2023.

As for Hartnett, he'll next be seen in Guy Ritchie's Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre, due out on 18 March.
