Jordana Brewster looked briefly set to be a star after her bitchy turn in The Faculty and rather sweeter gearhead turn in The Fast and the Furious, where she swept Paul Walker off his feet despite being mystifyingly cast as Vin Diesel's sister (like, hello! They don't look anything alike. She has hair!). She hasn't been doing a lot lately, however, so it must come as a relief to hear that she's in talks for The Fast And the Furious 4, a film that I'm going to call Fasterest and Furiouserest.
She will, once again, be playing Mia, sister to Dominic (Diesel) and love interest to Brian (Walker - and seriously, who thought the names 'Brian' and 'Dominic' fit with the whole fast-and-furious vibe? Shouldn't they be called Butch and Raygun or something?). The story this time (mild spoilers follow): the FBI discovered Brian's role in Dominic's escape, and he has to do One Last Undercover Mission to get out of jail, busting a heroin ring via the medium of driving a car very fast. And of course since it's really a love story between two guys, he demands Dominic's freedom too.
Justin Lin's directing, his second gig for the franchise after Tokyo Drift. We can only hope that, with three of the original leads back, this one is better, but we suspect it will be every bit as unintentionally funny.
