Back in May, we learned that Josh Gad had pitched Disney on the idea of creating a third sequel to 1989's sci-fi comedy adventure Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, with a plan to star in the movie. The Mouse House has given the green light and is now in talks with Joe Johnston to direct.

Johnston, of course, made the original film (he skipped the two previous sequels, Honey, I Blew Up The Kid and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves) but, after the studio approached other directors, level heads have prevailed and he's now making a deal to come back.

The new movie would find Gad as the son of the first film's Wayne Szalinski (Rick Moranis), who has become a scientist like his father, and, in a weird twist of fate, shrinks his own kids. Whether Moranis can be tempted out of retirement to at least cameo is unknown at this time, but the presence of Johnston gives us some hope. He most recent scored a credit for helping with re-shoots on the company's The Nutcracker And The Four Realms.
