Director Canaan Mann has already bagged two stars for crime thriller The Fields (formerly known as The Texas Killing Fields) in Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Now, to provide some balance, she’s going with a virtual unknown for the female lead: Jessica Chastain.

Chastain’s not a total newcomer – she’s had a variety of roles on TV and a few film appearances, but the majority of her bigger work is still to come, including Terence Malick’s The Tree Of Life and Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus. Oh, and she’s also going to be seen alongside Worthington in The Debt, where she'll play the younger version of Helen Mirren's character.

Fields focuses on a notorious area of Texas where a pair of killer teams has cut a swathe through the local women. Determined to stop them, Worthington’s local ‘tec joins forces with a New York cop (Morgan).

Also on the force is Worthington’s ex-wife (Chastain), herself a detective looking to solve the crimes.

It all kicks off next month.
