The cameras may not yet have started rolling on the sequel to 2018's watery hit Aquaman, but the production meetings are happening apace. And from one of those meetings comes an Instagram post by director James Wan, who reveals the title for the new film, Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom.

Little is really known about the film's story (with a script by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick), though that title suggests more Atlantean drama. Not all that surprising given the setting for the original, but it's something. According to Wan, the film will take a more serious tone.

Jason Momoa is back as the title character, while Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are returning, with Pilou Asbaek a new recruit. Filming is scheduled to kick off next month in Hawaii, while the movie itself is scheduled for a 16 December, 2022 release.
