If you can’t be bothered waiting for mobile technology to catch up with your need to watch telly while standing in a bus queue, then news from the new iPod Wednesday's launch in the States should go some way towards cheering you up.
In a first from a major network, Disney is to make some of the most popular shows on its ABC and Disney channels available for pay-per-download via iTunes, to go with the long-awaited iPod Wednesday's video capabilities.
It’s the first time that the big guns of TV have made programs available for PPD, and the good news is that Disney isn’t being coy about giving out the good stuff. The Apple-Disney-ABC partnership will kick off with ABC’s Lost, Desperate Housewives and Night Stalker and Disney’s That’s So Raven and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (no, we haven’t heard of that one either.)
Initial video offerings on the Music Store include 2,000 music videos and six short films from Pixar – Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ other venture.
New episodes will be downloadable on iTunes the day after they air, costing $1.99. Sadly, you can’t burn them to DVD (not that we condone that sort of thing) but you can watch them on computers, iPods or your telly.
