It's been a pretty good year for the Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd. Not only has he taken over from Ewan McGregor as Hollywood's favourite Brit boy - the influential magazine Movieline this year voted Ioan 'Most Welcome New British Actor' - but he's also landed a part in the new disney flick 102 Dalmatians. The role marks a career leap for Ioan, who will be starring opposite Glenn Close and Gerard Depardieu - it also carries with it a sizeable six-figure salary - not bad for someone just twelve months out of drama school. Filming begins at Shepperton at the end of this month. Gruffudd has been linked to a number of other projects, including an unnamed small-budget Welsh comedy thriller - also starring Lili Taylor and East is East actor Om Puri - and the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster The Tenth Victim.
