Indiana Jones And The Palais Of Doom?

Well, this is one Empire correspondent who’s very glad that the flight to France has already been booked – because it looks 90% certain that Dr. Henry Jones Jr. will make his long-awaited reappearance at the Cannes Film Festival.

The world premiere of Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull – which, unless you’ve been living in a cave protecting the Holy Grail for centuries, you’ll know more simply as Indy IV – has been pencilled in to take place on Sunday May 18 at the Palais, the enormo-cinema that dominates the Cannes Film Festival.

Nothing’s been confirmed yet, as Cannes doesn’t announce its line-up until April, and won’t be vetting a print of Indy IV for approval for a while yet. But according to Variety, the cast and key crew, including someone called Steven Spielberg, some bloke named George Lucas and a promising newcomer by the name of Harrison Ford, have been told to pack their sunscreen and black ties.

If Indy IV does indeed premiere at the Palais, it will take place four days before the movie opens across the world on May 22. And it’ll mark 26 years since Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial also showed at the Palais.

At the moment, Paramount is keeping mum about this, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this will happen. Should make for one heck of a video blog.
