Hey, look: a production company has just optioned a comic book as a likely movie project! Who ever expected that to happen? All sarcasm aside, the title this time sounds like a lot of fun, as Adam Hamdy's comic The Hunter has been optioned, and the man himself will get to write the script.
Scarlet Fire Entertainment has bought up the rights to the 2007 series, which focuses on CIA agent Gabriel Mot, a man with extraordinary powers. He's put to work seeking out those who have been attacking America, and discovers a hidden world of dark beings with dangerous and destructive capabilities.
"We're extremely pleased to be working with Scarlet Fire," Hamdy (he founded Dare Comics to get the book published) tells The Hollywood Reporter.
"They understood The Hunter immediately, and saw in it the potential to create a compelling new universe that loyal fans and newcomers alike will love seeing come to life on the big screen."
But though the comic has a catchy plot, Hamdy's apparently creating an original tale for the film. What, no origin story?
