Having recently finished the somewhat soppy-looking Russell Crowe drama A Beautiful Mind, director Ron Howard is now in line for a legal drama about the funeral business. An industry often overlooked by Hollywood, the art of interment will take centre stage in The Burial, based a New Yorker article of the same name. According to Variety, the true story follows Willie Gary, a black personal-injury lawyer from Mississippi who takes on the case of a local funeral home owner who claims to have been swindled by a major funeral parlour conglomerate. With the unlikely aid of his client's racist lawyer, Gary goes on to win $260 from the corporation. The film was adapted by Quills scribe Doug Wright and should begin filming next year, though no names have been attached to any of the roles as yet.
