Horror: Not what it was?

Forty years of Hammer Horror were celebrated at the London's Museum of the Moving Image. Plenty of screaming, Frankenstein, Dracula plus all those scary actors of days past. Some pretty top directors have paid tribute to Hammer including Spielberg and Tarantino, while Scorsese once said: "If we saw the logo of Hammer films we knew it would be a very special picture." But it took Ingrid Pitt, the scandalous star of The Vampire Lovers to bring out a touch of controversy. She reckons, "The Hammer films had more taste than these slasher films of today. The scripts were very good, and they did not go over the top." What do you think? Would you prefer a night in with a Vampire Lover or a good Scream?
