Being busy preparing to direct his next film Slipstream obviously hasn’t stopped Anthony Hopkins from signing up for other people’s movies.

He’ll be reporting to Russia in February to start work on Michael Hoffman’s The Last Station. Meryl Streep and Paul Giamatti are also starring in the adaptation of Jay Parini’s book.

Station follows the last, chaotic years of author Leo Tolstoy (Hopkins) and he faces a struggle for his soul between his wife (Streep) and his top disciple. Thrown into a moral quandary about his life, Tolstoy flees from his home, he makes it to a small railway station at Astapovo, where he thinks he’s dying alone – without realising the press is camped outside waiting for reports of his condition. And Tom Cruise thought he had trouble with the press…
