Hope Springs Eternal

The veteran actor and comedian Bob Hope is alive and well, despite reports that he had died being broadcast on ABC-TV news in the States on Friday. It all sprang from the web. A "pre-obituary" was mistakenly posted on the Associated Press website and read out by a politician on the floor of the House of Congress; ABC then broadcast the news. Hope was reportedly at home at the time, eating breakfast. ABC were suitably embarrassed about the whole thing.
