Hollywood keeps Wolfe waiting

Tom Wolfe, the writer who reaches part of the typewriter other writers never knew existed, must be feeling the chill at the moment. His new novel, A Man in Full, is being touted as "the hottest book on the planet" in America right now but Hollywood has remained cool about his new opus. Top Hollywood producers, who were "slipped" advanced previews before release, are worried about the book's crossover potential. Like Wolfe's previous masterpiece, The Bonfire of the Vanities, A Man in Full is a whopping 742-pages long with dozens of characters and a convoluted plot structure. Of course, the Bonfire adaptation almost tanked Hollywood with its controversial publicity and nobody in Tinseltown wants the same thing to happen twice: nobody, perhaps, except Tom.
