A interview in an Australian newspaper with sci-fi guru Arthur C. Clarke has revealed that the eccentric visionary is in negotiations with Tom Hanks to direct 3001: The Final Odyssey. The final part of his space trilogy, 3001 again follows the fortunes of astronaut Frank Poole, memorably murdered by supercomputer Hall 9000 in the first book/film of the saga, 2001. Whether it comes off or not remains to be seen, but if it does Hanks will have one heck of a film to live up to. Stanley Kubrick
