Tom Hanks was hospitalised overnight Monday and will now miss the Academy Awards luncheon and the NATO Star of the Decade Awards in Las Vegas later this week. The devastating reason? An infected blister. Hanks' publicist stated that the actor had picked up the blister while shooting his new film Cast Away in Fiji. The 42-year-old got the small blister on his right knee sometime last week, but was unable to keep it properly dressed due to the tropical climate and frequent filming in water. Upon his return to Los Angeles, it apparently became infected and Hanks sought care at an undisclosed hospital on Sunday. Doctors advised him to stay off his feet for about a week.
