For Mayflies, life is much like a bodybuilding gnome: short and hard. So with an average lifespan of about a day, you can’t imagine that Paramount and Nickelodeon would be able to make much more than a short film about them.
But they’ve picked up Mayfly, a comedy pitch by Leo Benvenuti and Steve Rudnick, which follows one of the insects who oversleeps. But – because this will be a kids’ CG cartoon – he gets a little help from a tortoise who teaches him the value of living for the moment. Yeah, fine words from a creature likely to live more than 100 years.
