Well, the ceremony didn't happen, and everyone involved seemed a little confused about what exactly they were meant to do, but the Golden Globe winners were still announced last night, LA time, and no one swept the board, with Atonement taking Best Motion Picture - Drama and Sweeney Todd landing Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy.
Four films landed more than one award, but none landed more than two. Atonement also took home Best Score for composer Dario Marianelli, and Sweeney Todd also took home Best Actor - Musical or Comedy for Johnny Depp. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly took both Best Foreign Film and, in something of a surprise, Best Director, and** **the only other film to land more than one win was No Country For Old Men, which nabbed Best Screenplay for the Coen Brothers and Best Supporting Actor for the ever-wonderful Javier Bardem.
Best Actor - Drama went to Daniel Day-Lewis for his blistering turn in There Will Be Blood, while Best Actress - Drama went to Julie Christie for her excellent, if little seen, turn in Away From Her. Best Actress - Musical or Comedy went to French star Marion Cotillard for her role as Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose, and Cate Blanchett walked away with Best Supporting Actress for her performance in I'm Not There.
Finally in the film categories, Best Animated Film went to (no surprise here) Pixar's Ratatouille.
