As bombing intensifies in war-ravaged Kosovo, US film star Richard Gere is to fly to neighbouring Macedonia this week on a morale-boosting mission. Press reports state that Gere - an avid human rights activist himself - will fly to Macedonia on Wednesday to meet up with government representatives and humanitarian officials before touring refugee camps. Himself a Buddhist, Gere has been actively campaigning for human rights in Tibet, while on screen, he's better known for his roles in An Officer And A Gentleman, Internal Affairs and Pretty Woman. UNHCR spokeswoman Paula Ghedini told press she had heard of the meet but could not confirm the appointment, saying: "I honestly don't know. We're getting so many delegations."
