Preceding the prestigious Empire awards and the Oscars, the Evening Standard Film Awards took place last night. Guess the winner? Yep, it was the Monty, which scooped the best film of the year gong. Robert Carlyle, sporting a rather odd 'tache and sub-goatie mix picked up the best actor for his groaning sideboard and Peter Cattaneo nabbed the best director. Michael Keaton presented the awards. Any other winners? Well, Mrs Brown got two, while Katrin Cartlidge won best actress for Career Girls and Jude Law was best newcomer for Wilde.
