One of America's greatest architects, Frank Lloyd Wright is getting the big-screen treatment in Taliesin, a biopic to be directed by Aussie veteran Bruce Beresford.

The movie will take in Wright's triumphs - including his gilded career as a designer, writer and the man whose blueprints lie behind some of the country's most beloved buildings - but Taliesin's name echoes with his greatest tragedy: the fire that killed his mistress and her children in 1914.

According to the director, **Taliesin **will depict the man with Aviator-like objectivity - warts and all. “It’s a very good script,” Beresford told The Hollywood Reporter of Nicholas 'Sommersby' Meyer's screenplay. “It doesn’t cover his whole life, just a small section of it, and it doesn’t whitewash him into some sort of saint."

Beresford has been twice nominated for **Breaker Morant **and Tender Mercies, but is arguably best known for his work on Driving Miss Daisy. He's currently scouting for locations in Chicago, close by Wright's home state of Wisconsin, while Branded Pictures Entertainment and Chicago-based Kartemquin Films put the financing together.
