In the list of exciting sports, bass fishing might not exactly feature close to the top. But don’t be so quick to dismiss it as a possible film idea – because Fox Atomic has found an intriguing way in.
The company has caught (yeah, we went there) the rights to rod-casting biopic Fishing On The Edge: The Mike Iaconelli Story. Written by the man himself with Andrew and Brian Kamenetzky, it’s the tale of his rise from a New Jersey upbringing to the heights of bass fishing superstardom. After winning the 2003 Citgo Bassmaster Classic he became the David Beckham of fishing, though without the questionable fashion choices, and ended up on all sorts of ESPN talk shows.
There’s no writer or director attached yet, and if you thought we were going for a “but they should be reeled in shortly” joke, prepare to be sadly disappointed.
