Zach Braff and Florence Pugh have been more known for the stories of their recently ended romance than their work together, but the product of the latter, new film A Good Person, has a trailer online.

With Braff writing and directing, the film also stars Morgan Freeman as Daniel, who is brought together with Allison (Pugh), the once thriving young woman with a bright future who was involved in an unimaginable tragedy that took his daughter’s life.

As grief-stricken Daniel navigates raising his teenage granddaughter and Allison seeks redemption, they discover that friendship, forgiveness, and hope can flourish in unlikely places.

A story of addiction and redemption, the cast also includes Molly Shannon, Chinaza Uche and Celeste O’Connor. And Braff, talking to EW, is full of praise for Pugh.

"Most actors, the director is there to shape them and steer them, and in the edit room you really shape a performance," he says. "But there's not a single thing Florence did that isn't correct, in my brain as the one who wrote it."

A Good Person will launch in US cinemas on limited release on 24 March, going wide on 31 March. According to Sky, the film will be on release in UK cinemas and on Sky Cinema next year.
