While the most recent entry in the creatively killer franchise Final Destination arrived in 2011, New Line is already looking for a restart, bringing on Saw co-writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to craft a fresh take.

The concept was birthed by James Wong, Glen Morgan and Jeffrey Reddick in 2000, with the first film kicking off a franchise. The basic concept finds a character having a premonition of a horrific, deadly event, leading to them saving their own lives and that of others, only for death to take the form of an unstoppable force that hunts them down one by one in elaborate, violent ways.

As for what Melton and Dunstan will bring to a re-imagining of the idea, that remains to be seen as plot details are staying under wraps for now. The writers, who have worked on four Saw films, recently worked on Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark and have several other projects set up, all of them in the horror genre.
