Thought that the ‘70s TV show well might be dry after Starsky & Hutch and The Dukes of Hazzard? Think again.

Warners has acquired the rights to CHiPs, the US show about the adventures of the California Highway Patrol.

Starring Erik Estrada as Francis “Ponch” Poncherello and Larry Wilcox as Jon Baker, the show was a macho action-adventure just ripe for the movie industry to turn into a modern-day action comedy. At least, that’s the plan.

Wilmer Valderrama, currently to be seen playing Fez on sitcom That ‘70s Show will play Ponch. There’s no director attached yet, but Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgrove are writing the script.
