A new trailer for the Jessica Alba starring remake of Chinese horror The Eye has gone live here and, well, we have to slightly question the wisdom of a teaser that relies on silent reaction shots from the Fantastic Four star in order to convey terror. At several points we thought maybe she'd realised she'd left the iron switched on or only just now processed the realisation that, yes, The Sopranos is really over. But never does she entirely emote 'Oh lawks, there appears to be some kind semi-expired gentlemen apeeking at me through this peephole. Mayhap shall I scream so that he might flee, covering his rotting ears in startlement?'
In the movie, Alba plays a young blind woman who receives a cornea transplant, which gives her the gift of sight. Unfortunately, someone put her new eyes in all wonky and she's now been granted the ability to see ghosts.
A lot of those jumps that have been thrust in there seem rather hokey, but at least there wasn't a silent girl with long, lank hair. That's progress of a type, right? And Alba does a good job of making cataracts sexy and there's something to be said for seeing Sue Storm acting with indie darling Parker Posey. You don't see that everyday, no matter what kind of freaky corneas you might possess.
