With his pockmarked face and pitiless outlook on life, it's safe to say **Jonah Hex **is one of the darker antiheroes in the DC Comic canon: think Two-Face goes West or Josey Wales with a less meticulous skin-care regimen.

Here's a first full look at the face of the disfigured do-gooder, who, says Brolin, will be battling a whole lot of darkness in the Deep South. "There's a Western aspect and a supernatural aspect. I believe that’s what attracted this kind of talent to the project." And talent is the operative word, with a support cast that also includes Michael Fassbender as prostitute-killing villain Burke, Megan Fox as the hooker who grabs the Hex heart, as well as John Malkovich, Will Arnett and Michael Shannon.

Judging by the frenzied reaction to Comic-Con footage of the Hex maniac in action, **Jonah Hex **could, quietly, be one of the most eagerly-awaited comic-book adaptations of next year, with Josh Brolin packing the pistols as the comic-book gunslinger and Malkovich's henchmaniac plantation owner giving him plenty of things to shoot at.
