Legendary seventies motor cycle stuntman Robert 'Evel' Knievel has received a new liver in an operation at Tampa General Hospital. The news was broken yesterday on The Official Evel Knievel web site. In recent years hepatitis C has calmed the wild rock 'n' roll lifestyle that made Evel legendary and puts him as a prime contender for the title 'Craziest Man Ever'. His legendary stunts included jumping over a pool of sharks and his disastrous attempt to clear Idaho's Snake River Canyon with a rocket bike (after he was refused a shot at the Grand Canyon). His notoriety was so great in the seventies that he was the subject of two biopics, Evel Kenievel (1971) and Viva Kenievel (1977) another is scheduled for direction by Betty Thomas of Hill Street Blues fame. Few people brought up in the seventies saw them out without owning a replica wind up Evel stunt bike, which became the biggest selling toy of the decade. Get well soon Evel.
