The year of Lin-Manuel Miranda is well underway. If you haven’t seen In The Heights yet, hie thee to your nearest cinema and get it watched, stat. And later this year, his directorial debut tick, tick… BOOM! comes to Netflix. But beyond that, he’s also got a stack of new songs in Disney’s next animated adventure, Encanto. Following up Raya And The Last Dragon, the Mouse House’s upcoming film promises to be a dazzling, toe-tapping jaunt into a magical house in Colombia, from the directors behind the brilliant Zootropolis (Jared Bush and Byron Howard), and with Miranda getting his Moana on again in music duties. If that doesn’t get you excited, this trailer will:

Doesn’t that just look vibrant and lush and wonderful? With colours popping everywhere, a nifty summing-up of the film’s central premise (at the fantastical Casa Madrigal in Encanto, Colombia, everyone has magical abilities except 15 year-old Mirabel), and a hint of Miranda’s next suite of Disney music, there’s plenty to get excited about here. Factor in that Zootropolis is a modern Disney classic, and Mirabel is being voiced by the wonderful Stephanie Beatriz (of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and, hey, In The Heights), and this one has all kinds of promising ingredients.

Will it prove as rich a viewing experience as Zootropolis and Moana? Can we expect a ‘You’re Welcome’-level banger? And will there be a plush capybara available for purchase? We’ll find out in November, when Encanto is set to hit screens.
