Looks like Emily Blunt, fresh off her own real-life wedding to John Krasinski, is looking for an excuse to slip back into bridal attire - onscreen at least. According to Pajiba’s sources, she’s attached to star in a comedy called Engagement Games.
The high concept finds three sisters in one family who all get engaged at the same time. Trouble is, only one of them can get their mother’s cherished wedding ring and none of them are willing to compromise for the sake of family togetherness.
So it falls to their father to decide, and he comes up with the novel solution of having them compete in “Family Olympics” to see who will win the ring. At least someone’s willing to put the “fun” back in “dysfunctional” (they use that as the tagline, we want a cut), but it sounds like one seriously messed-up brood and the most drama over a ring since Frodo and Gollum tussled next to some lava.
Rachel Spencer and Audrey Wauchope wrote the script, which Sony is busy developing. There’s no word on whether Blunt will stay attached to it, so we’re counting this one as living on Rumour Street for now.
