His Rockness, Dwayne Johnson, has been lavishing his talents on kiddie and family-friendly fare of late, but he's finally taking a break from kicking it PG-rated, with the news that he's in final talks to star in Faster, an edgier action drama.
The plot sees El Rockerino play an ex-con who is bent on avenging the death of his brother, who died ten years before after the two were double-crossed during a heist. If we were betting persons here, we'd guess the same double-cross left the Dwaynemeister in prison for the interim, and it's only now on his release that he's seeking payback.
Filming's due to begin in August, with Phil Joanou (who worked with the Johnsonator on Gridiron Gang) directing and a script by Joe and Tony Gayton (who wrote The Shepherd: Border Patrol and Murder By Numbers respectively). Let's hope that the film allows The Rock to open a large can of whoop ass all over the place.
