Incredibly, plans have been hatched for a sequel to the classic 1939 movie, The Wizard of Oz. Yet more incredible still, Oscar-winning actor Rod Steiger, whose hands the whirlwind script has allegedly tumbled into, wants to cast Elizabeth Taylor as the aging Dorothy. The plot? "Dorothy is 60 years old and really unhappy with her life, so she goes back to Oz to visit all her old friends. The problem is, they've changed as drastically as she has," explains Steiger. "I'll probably play the Cowardly Lion, who's become so tough that he's now a gangster." With rumours abound that Steigers and Taylor are romantically linked, the actor claims Taylor is almost fully recovered from her latest bout of back problems and is "just itching to get back to work." He added, "She's finally willing to admit she's been away from films for far too long," despite many vehemently believing the opposite of Taylor, who last bowled the film-going nation over with her cameo as Wilma's mother in The Flintstones. And as for Steiger on the rumours of romance? "We're just good friends who go out to lunch a couple of times a week. I've been married four times, so my romantic days are over. Now I'm little more than a clinical adviser on love." Of course.
