We're all used to product recalls on cars and faulty electrical goods, but on childrens' videos? Well actually yes, because Disney are in trouble yet again. The Little Mermaid, that well-known top shelf filler, whipped up a storm of controversy following its release a few years ago and now it's the turn of The Rescuers.Associated Press reports that the twenty year old film has just been re-released and apparently it contains images of naked women's bodies. Well two of the 110,000 frames do anyway. Disney got hot under the collar and recalled 3.4million copies. Conspiracy theorists may like to point out that there's hardly likely to be an army of Mary Whitehouse-type busybodies out there wired on Horlicks, their fevered imaginations working over time while their fingers hover over the VCR pause button. Childrens' animations are obviously huge business and it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that a rival would mount a smear campaign like this. Kiddy pics are always being accused of pushing out subversive subliminals, alleged recent highlights include:

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Jessica reveals that she isn't wearing any knickers during a dancing scene.

  • The Little Mermaid, the tower of a castle is actually a penis and the minister gets hot and bothered during a marriage ceremony.
  • The Lion King, a cloud of dust forms the word 'sex'
  • Alladin, tries to get a bunch of kids to get in the buff.

Nobody mentioned the fact that none of the Animals in the rescuers were wearing any clothes. Still, we'd love to see the frames if anyone's got a copy.
