A US company, Synthonics Inc., has been issued a patent for a new technique which enables someone to take any standard motion picture into an undistorted, stereoscopic 3-D film. The company has said that it means that any movie, old or new, can now be turned into a fully 3D experience. The company plans to license the technology to film-makers and production companies worldwide. It looks like cinemas are going to have to start getting splash-proof carpets in.
