Depp and Theron bag SAGs, while Coppola shines at WGA

The 10th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last night in Hollywood, with some surprising results for some of our favourite Oscar nominees. Johnny Depp walked away with Best Actor in a Motion Picture for Pirates of the Caribbean, prompting those who had discounted his chances of an Oscar win to have at least a moment of reflection. Suddenly we sense that frontrunners Bill Murray and Sean Penn are looking over their shoulders a little more warily. Charlize Theron, less surprisingly, nabbed Best Actress for her deservedly praised and well-nigh unrecognisable performance in Monster. Theron thanked her mother who, she said,
