With the bulging box of projects he either has in development to make himself, or that he’s producing / consulting on, there’s a seemingly endless flow of possibilities in front of Guillermo del Toro. Recently, the workhorse writer / director / mischief maker was the focus of rumours about something called Heaven Sent, described as a dark take on the DC Universe’s Justice League featuring characters such as Swamp Thing and Constantine. Earlier reports were denied, but now he tells MTV that he’s discussing the idea.

From his tone, it definitely sounds like it’s more wish fulfilment than active development. “I've been discussing with the fans and I've been very, very open about how much Swamp Thing was key when I was a kid. Comics in Mexico came on the first two days of the week. Around Tuesday and Wednesday I would go to the newsstand on my bicycle and I would get Swamp Thing every time it was available and I loved Jack Kirby's Demon. I love Constantine and all that. You know, I've been pursuing doing something with them for many, many years. Hopefully it'll come to pass. But we are still just discussing."

He also explains why he seemed to shoot down the rumours: he was being asked about work on the actual** Justice League** film (Superman Batman, Wonder Woman etc.) that Warner Bros. wants in cinemas by 2015. He’s definitely not involved with that. Yet.

GDT's next, monster-mash action adventure epic Pacific Rim, is set to hit our screens on July 12.
