Squeezed between panels, Pee-Wee Herman himself (Paul Reubens) showed up in Hall H for a quick question-and-answer session. And naturally, questions turned to the subject of his next movie, which he’s working on with, of all people, Judd Apatow.

Yes, the man behind the likes of Funny People and The 40-Year-Old Virgin is a huge Pee-Wee fan and is deeply involved with getting him back on the big screen.

“It’s always surprising when I tell people that Judd Apatow is producing it,” Pee-Wee explained. “It’s Incredible to have that ace in the hole.”

While he admitted that he really couldn’t talk about it (under pain of being “put to death”), he did reveal a couple of details. “The studio is reading it right now as we speak today and making their decision. And it’s a road picture, because Mr Apatow wanted something that was similar to Big Adventure. We’ll go across the country.”

That script under consideration is being written by Pee Wee and a writer named Paul Rust that Apatow put him together with. “He says no to most of what I send him,” Herman laughed.

But there was one bit of bad news – no sign of Twisted Sister cropping up in this one, assuming it gets made…
