Because no video game can hit the shelves without being developed into a film, Avatar Films and Sekretagent Productions have nabbed the movie rights to Ubisoft’s Cold Fear.
Obviously we’re starting to get near the bottom of the barrel, as fear didn’t exactly set the tills alight when it was released into the market. That might be because it features missions starring adorable puppies and balloons made of pure love.
Okay, not really. It’s about a Coast Guard Officer trying to reunite with his estranged daughter while they’re adrift on a whaling ship infested with nasty aliens. We weren’t kidding that second time.
The companies need to find a director before they start selling the idea to studios. But given the recent less-than-successful run of game-to-film licences (Doom? Stay Alive?), we fear they’ll face an uphill battle.
